The Lie Satan Wants You to Believe
The Biggest Problem in "Christianity" No One Wants to Admit
The religious world today has many problems. "Christianity" (used loosely here) is more divided than ever before.
Did you know there are 45,000 denominations claiming to follow the same Bible? You mean to tell me there are 45,000 different ways to interpret the Word of God? Of course not!
God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). He didn’t intend for His Word to be twisted into thousands of interpretations.
So, what’s the real problem? Many “Christians” today don’t believe the truth can be known.
Truth vs. "Your Truth"
"Christians" often criticize the political left for their views on gender and identity—terms like "my truth" and "your truth" are frequent targets. But let’s be honest: are “Christians” any better?
“Christians” have their own version of "my truth" and "your truth." They believe one church is as good as another. They say, "You can do things your way, and I’ll do things mine—we’ll all end up in heaven anyway." This mindset has led to 45,000 versions of denominational “truth.”
Ultimately, many in "Christianity" believe truth is subjective, unattainable, or irrelevant. This is a devastating lie.
We Have to Trust Jesus: The Truth Can Be Known
Jesus tells us that the truth is not only real but that it can be known. He said:
"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:31-32
These words carry incredible promises:
Truth is attainable: Jesus said, "You shall know the truth." He didn’t suggest truth is subjective or elusive.
His word is truth: “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” - John 17:17
Truth comes through His word: Knowing the truth requires abiding in His word. To abide means to read, study, and live by it.
Truth brings freedom: The truth doesn’t just exist; it changes lives. It sets us free.
But free from what? Let’s examine the context of John 8.
Freedom Through Truth: What Jesus Teaches
When Jesus spoke of being made free, the Jews objected:
"We are Abraham's descendants and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, 'You will be made free'?" - John 8:33
Jesus responded:
"Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - John 8:34-36
Jesus wasn’t talking about physical bondage but spiritual bondage to sin. The Son—through His word—offers freedom from this slavery.
The Contrast: Truth vs. Lies
Jesus later said:
"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." - John 8:44
This passage highlights a stark contrast:
Truth vs. Lies
Jesus vs. the Devil
Freedom vs. Slavery to Sin
There’s no middle ground. You’re either with Jesus and living in the truth, or you’re with the devil and living a lie.
What Will We Do With the Truth?
Jesus promises:
"If anyone keeps My word, he shall never see death." - John 8:51
This refers to spiritual death. How can we trust Jesus on this? Because He declared:
"Before Abraham was, I AM." - John 8:58
Jesus is the great "I AM," the eternal God. His word is trustworthy.
Applying This to Our Lives
We must believe that truth is attainable. This mindset should shape how we approach every important question:
Can we know the truth about God? Yes.
Can we know how to worship God? Yes.
Can we know how to be saved? Yes.
Can we know how to be the Church of Christ? Yes.
If we want to unite (1 Corinthians 1:10), we must believe the truth is attainable.
Sharing the Truth
If we have the truth, we are obligated to share it with those who don’t. But how?
Abide in His word: Immerse yourself in the Bible. Study it deeply.
Be disciples of His word: Live according to its teachings.
Get others into His word: Encourage others to seek and study the truth.
We need to convince ourselves and others that:
You’re either with Jesus or with the devil.
You’re either in the truth or living a lie.
You’re either free or a slave to sin.
Final Thoughts
Truth is obtainable. Truth is objective. Truth can be known. Truth shall be known.
The devil wants you to believe the lie that there is no truth. For when one believes this lie, they become a child of him. They become a slave to sin.
Let’s know the truth. Let’s help others know the truth.
"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:31-32
Yes the fundamental problem in the present Church is an absence of truth. I would expect nothing less in an organization that has dismissed biblical truth with such violence (93% of “Christians” today do not have a biblical worldview, according to Pew Research, The Barna Group, and others)
One should not expect truth to be all that important to any group who are pretending objective truth doesn’t exist. They cannot even think deep enough to see the claim that objective truth doesn’t exist is an objective truth claim.
Well put, Thank you 😃
